Creating a custom portrait should feel personal and straightforward throughout the entire process. Below are answers to common questions about image quality, sizes, mediums, special requests, and the BrushWiz portrait process. If you don’t find what you’re looking for here, feel free to contact us for additional support.
Absolutely. Our artists can turn digital or printed photographs into hand-painted portraits. Whether your image captures a wedding, a beloved pet, a family member, or another meaningful subject, the artwork is created by hand from a blank surface. We can also make requested adjustments to the background, composition, colors, and other details.
Your total depends on the selected dimensions, artistic medium, and number of subjects. Each additional person, pet, or vehicle requires more painting time, so complex compositions cost more. The available options and final price are shown as you configure the portrait.
1. Choose a Theme: Pick the category that most closely matches your photograph.
2. Select a Medium: Choose Oil, Acrylic, Charcoal, Watercolor, Pencil, or Pastel. Oil remains the most popular option for a classic painted finish.
3. Choose Size and Subjects: Select the dimensions and subject count. A size with a similar ratio to the photo helps prevent unwanted cropping.
4. Upload & Comment: Add your best-quality images in .jpeg, .png, .bmp, or .gif format, then explain any background or photo-combination requests.
5. Add a Frame (Optional): Select a handcrafted frame, or receive the portrait as rolled canvas in a protective tube.
6. Review and Complete: Confirm the chosen options, then select ‘Add to Cart’ to continue with your purchase.
Yes. Custom dimensions are available from 16” x 16” up to 150” x 150” murals. Consider both the subject count and the intended wall space when selecting a size.
Choose a larger canvas when the portrait includes subtle facial features, several subjects, or a detailed setting. Smaller sizes are better suited to simple compositions and close-up reference photos.
The smallest available portrait is 16” x 16”. A more compact surface would not leave enough room for the artist to reproduce facial features and background details clearly.
Smaller canvases support fewer subjects because every face and important feature needs adequate painting space. Placing too many people or objects within limited dimensions would reduce clarity and recognizable detail.
Yes. During ordering, describe the setting you want or upload a separate background image. The artist can replace the original surroundings with that scene or use a solid color you select.
A clear, high-resolution file larger than 500KB gives the artist the best view of fine features. Lower-resolution photos may still be usable, and extra reference images can supply details that are difficult to see in the primary photograph.
Yes. We can bring subjects from separate photographs into one natural composition, including a family group or an entirely new setting. Upload every reference and explain the preferred placement in the comments. You will receive a digital composition preview to approve before painting starts.
Often, yes. Our team can improve, restore, or add color to many faded, damaged, blurry, and vintage photographs. Additional reference images may help reconstruct missing features. Describe the intended result in your comments, and we will provide an edited preview for approval before the artist begins.
For a stronger reference image, consider these points:
1. Choose a clear pose: A natural expression and unobstructed viewing angle are easiest to reproduce.
2. Provide good resolution: Files above 500KB usually reveal more of the details the artist needs.
3. Review the setting: Decide whether the existing background supports the subject or should be replaced.
Absolutely. We can incorporate a wide range of adjustments and custom requests into your portrait based on your reference photos. Simply leave clear instructions in the comments box when placing your order. Available enhancement services include:
Yes. Email the image to [email protected] before ordering, and our team can assess its quality and provide a price quotation.
Our design team prepares the composition according to your instructions. We will send a digital preview of the edited image for approval, and the artist will begin only after you approve it. Please note that major composition changes may not be possible once painting has started.
Customers do not communicate with the assigned artist directly. Our support team passes your instructions and later feedback to the studio, so contact us whenever another detail needs to be added.
We assign an artist whose experience best matches the selected medium, subject, and style. Every artist follows our quality standards, and you will be able to review the finished portrait before it is shipped.
BrushWiz respects the intellectual property of creators and strongly encourages its customers to do the same. By submitting an image to brushwiz.com for processing or conversion into a painting, you acknowledge that you have read and accepted the Copyright Notice to Customers and the accompanying terms and conditions. These terms are binding for the services you request from BrushWiz.
Almost all visual images, including family photos and works of art, are protected by copyright. Typically, the copyright belongs to the creator of the image, such as the photographer or artist. In some cases, multiple copyrights may apply to a single image. For instance, a photograph and its subject may be covered by separate copyrights. Copyright automatically applies at the time of creation, whether registered or not, granting the owner exclusive rights to reproduce, display, distribute, and create derivative works based on the original. Reproducing or distributing copyrighted material without permission is generally unlawful. Copyrights extend beyond the creator’s lifetime, passing to their estate, heirs, or assigns. Both BrushWiz and its customers are subject to copyright laws, with violations carrying civil and criminal penalties.
Photographers and artists invest significant time and effort into their work, pricing their services with the expectation of revenue from selling prints. Unauthorized reproduction undermines this potential and violates the creative integrity of their work. Customers seeking to use any aspect of a copyrighted work should consult the copyright owner to obtain permission or clarify usage rights. This ensures transparency and secures the necessary consent to reproduce the work.
All images—whether downloaded from the internet, scanned, or sourced from printed materials—are presumed to have copyright protection. Internet images often pose challenges, as the hosting website is rarely the copyright holder. Resolving copyright issues for printed images may require seeking permission from the publication or creator. If BrushWiz cannot reproduce an image due to copyright restrictions, we recommend contacting the original source or copyright holder. Professional photographers often accommodate reproduction requests or provide the required permissions.
Regardless of the copyright holder's motivations for protecting their work, it is essential to respect intellectual property rights as mandated by law. If you have concerns about copyright compliance, obtain the necessary permissions before submitting an image to BrushWiz. If uncertainty remains, consider consulting a legal professional to ensure compliance. BrushWiz cannot provide legal advice or determine the legality of copyright issues on behalf of its customers.
I (the customer) confirm that I have reviewed the ‘Copyright Notice to Customers’ available on the BrushWiz website (www.brushwiz.com) and understand the laws governing the copying of copyrighted materials. I confirm that I am the original creator of any visual content I submit to BrushWiz Inc. for processing or painting and hold its sole copyright. I authorize BrushWiz to perform the requested services, including modifying, reproducing, or creating derivative works from the image. If I am not the copyright owner, I confirm that I have obtained prior written consent from the original copyright holder to provide the image to BrushWiz and authorize the requested services, including the creation and publication of derivative works. Upon request, I agree to provide such written consent.
I agree to protect and indemnify BrushWiz, including its officers, employees, directors, associates, affiliates, licensors, information providers, web hosts, and agents, and hold them harmless from any and all liabilities, expenses, damages, and costs, including reasonable attorney fees and compliance costs related to any injunction or directive arising from this agreement. This includes, but is not limited to, violations of statute, breaches of contract, negligence, or other common law torts.
BrushWiz reserves the right to reject or deny any request for the painting of images that do not comply with copyright laws or the terms and conditions outlined in this agreement.
